In Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, hundreds of students organized a demonstration on Friday evening to address the ongoing wildfire crisis. The protesters, many wearing masks due to the thick toxic haze and orange skies, gathered at the provincial governor's office. They urged the government to officially classify the situation as a national emergency, which would facilitate the release of additional resources and aid. Protest leader Yuyun Sanjaya emphasized that the local administration should acknowledge its inability to manage the disaster independently. The demonstrators highlighted the severe health risks posed to vulnerable populations, including infants and the elderly, who have been breathing in dense smoke for several months. The visibility in the region has been significantly compromised as fires continue to burn across the Borneo province.
