The Philippine Department of Transportation announced that the first carriage of the third electric multiple unit trainset for the North-South Commuter Railway has been delivered to the Malanday Depot in Valenzuela City. The remaining seven cars are scheduled to arrive shortly. These units, sourced from Japan, are part of the infrastructure development for the Malolos–Tutuban line. The government aims to launch the Valenzuela–Malolos segment by December 2027, with the entire 147-kilometer network connecting Clark to Calamba projected to be fully functional by late 2033. Once completed, the railway system will feature 35 stations and is expected to accommodate 800,000 passengers daily. Officials anticipate that the project will significantly reduce transit time between Clark and Calamba from four hours to approximately two hours.
