Representatives from Iran, China, and Russia have issued a collective statement dismissing a proposed resolution from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. The joint declaration argues that the Western initiative to refer Iran's nuclear program to the UN Security Council lacks a valid legal foundation and contradicts diplomatic efforts. The three nations urged other IAEA members to withhold support for the measure, characterizing it as a strategy to intensify pressure on Tehran and undermine existing cooperation with the nuclear watchdog. Furthermore, the signatories criticized the resolution for failing to address recent sabotage against Iranian nuclear sites, which they claim has hindered the agency's ability to conduct standard safeguards. Finally, the group asserted that attempts to trigger the snapback mechanism under Resolution 2231 are legally ineffective.
