Kazakhstani lawmaker Zharkynbek Amantayuly has formally requested that the government introduce harsher penalties for individuals who produce harmful live broadcasts, commonly known as trash streaming. In an official inquiry directed to the Ministers of Culture and Information and Internal Affairs, the deputy argued that current regulations are insufficient to address the rise of illegal content. He emphasized the need for a clear legal definition of trash streaming to better prosecute those who broadcast violence, dangerous pranks, insults, and provocations. Amantayuly noted that while social media platforms have become essential to modern life, the monetization of problematic live streams has led to an increase in offensive behavior and public disturbances. The proposal seeks to curb the growing trend of using digital platforms to profit from content that promotes harmful or illegal activities.
