Kazakhstan's Ministry of Healthcare has uncovered widespread irregularities involving the unauthorized sale of state-provided medications. During a recent government briefing, Minister Akmaral Alnazarova reported that 788 entities were found violating regulations in 2026. These infractions, which include the resale of free drugs, repeated inventory removals, and price gouging, were identified through a digital tracking system implemented in 2024. According to the Minister, the number of recorded violations has surged tenfold compared to the previous year. In response to these findings, authorities have issued administrative reports and levied fines against the offending parties. The digital labeling initiative, which assigns unique codes to individual medicine packages, allows officials to monitor pharmaceutical supply chains, manage stock levels, and enforce price caps in real time, thereby improving oversight of the national healthcare distribution network.
