Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has directed local authorities in Kazakhstan to address rising urban congestion by deploying intelligent traffic management systems. During a recent government session, Bektenov highlighted that rapid urbanization is placing significant strain on existing transport infrastructure, necessitating a shift from reactive measures to a more systematic approach. Local administrations, or akimats, have been given a two-month deadline to pinpoint the most congested road segments and initiate pilot programs for these advanced traffic control technologies. The initiative aims to improve overall mobility, enhance road safety, and elevate the quality of urban living. The Ministry of Transport is tasked with collaborating with regional officials to ensure these projects are identified and launched within the specified timeframe to modernize how traffic flows in the country's major metropolitan areas.
