Palace spokesperson Claire Castro emphasized that the administration remains neutral, asserting that the legal proceedings are based solely on evidence provided by the Office of the Ombudsman. While Romualdez has requested continued hospital confinement due to health concerns, the government stated it will not interfere with medical assessments or judicial processes. Officials maintained that the President’s personal sentiments are irrelevant to the ongoing legal accountability, stressing that the administration respects the independence of the court in determining the outcome of the case. The Ombudsman has expressed strong opposition to the request for hospital detention.
