The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has alerted drivers to be cautious of fraudulent activities linked to the No Contact Apprehension Program (NCAP). Malicious actors are reportedly establishing counterfeit websites and payment channels to steal financial data and money from unsuspecting motorists. MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes clarified that the agency lacks the authority to apprehend these criminals directly, necessitating collaboration with the National Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Information and Communications Technology, and other relevant bodies. Officials emphasized that legitimate NCAP notifications do not contain links for payment. Motorists are advised to verify traffic violations exclusively through official government platforms, such as the eGovPH application or authorized MMDA services. The agency is currently working with financial regulators to block illicit payment flows as the program resumes operations across parts of Metro Manila.
