Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat recently introduced the Toa Payoh West Master Plan at the HDB Hub. During the event, he invited local residents to contribute their feedback through an exhibition and engagement process to influence the neighborhood's future. The government aims to preserve the area's established community identity while modernizing its infrastructure. Chee emphasized that urban planning in Singapore now focuses on holistic town development rather than isolated housing projects. This comprehensive approach integrates residential units with essential amenities, including transport links, retail spaces, healthcare facilities, and recreational areas designed to foster social interaction. By creating a 'second heart' for the district, authorities hope to improve the quality of life for inhabitants while ensuring the town remains adaptable to evolving demographic requirements.
