Montenegro Shipping Lines, Inc. (MSLI) has implemented a new policy barring all electric and hybrid vehicles from its ferry fleet. This decision follows a recent fatal maritime accident in Palawan that raised significant safety concerns regarding the transport of such vehicles. The restriction applies to all vessels operated by the company, including those servicing the busy Calapan–Batangas route. The carrier confirmed that the ban encompasses both passenger and commercial electric or hybrid units to mitigate potential fire risks during transit. This move reflects growing industry caution regarding the safety protocols required for shipping battery-powered transportation across the Philippine archipelago.
