Following a special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Nagaland, officials have removed more than 150,000 names from the state's draft voter list. This reduction represents an 11.7% decrease from the previous count of 1.35 million voters, leaving the current draft list at 1.19 million. According to the Election Commission, the deletions were primarily due to approximately 120,000 individuals being identified as absent or having permanently relocated, while nearly 30,000 deaths were recorded. Additionally, over 5,000 duplicate entries were identified and purged. Citizens wishing to contest these removals may submit claims and objections between September 20 and October 20. Authorities plan to hear these appeals by November 18, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on November 22. This process is part of a broader revision exercise occurring across 19 states and Union Territories in India.
