National Bank has officially restarted standard banking services, enabling customers to access their funds as required. Starting today, the institution is processing withdrawal requests submitted by clients over the previous four days. This recovery effort follows the acquisition of Tk 700 billion in liquidity, provided by state-owned Sonali Bank under a guarantee from the central bank of Bangladesh. To ensure financial stability, Bangladesh Bank has mandated strict usage guidelines for these funds. Specifically, the capital cannot be utilized to issue new loans or to reimburse deposits belonging to current or former directors of the bank. These regulatory measures were formally communicated to the managing director of National Bank earlier this week as part of the conditions for receiving the necessary financial assistance.
