The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently disclosed that it conducted searches on properties associated with former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and his wife, Rowena, on August 24, 2026. According to NBI Director Melvin Matibag, the operation was initiated following reports that illegal high-powered firearms were being stored at the locations. However, the search teams did not recover any weapons during the raids. This development is part of an ongoing investigation involving the former lawmaker and his ex-security detail, Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who was previously dismissed from the police force. The disclosure of these operations comes one month after they took place and shortly after Velasco departed the country on August 30. Immigration records indicate that he has not returned to the Philippines as of late September.
