Aleksandar Vucic officially stepped down from his role as the president of Serbia on Sunday after signing and delivering his resignation letter. According to Serbian constitutional regulations, the presidential mandate concludes immediately once the National Assembly receives the formal document, rendering further legislative approval unnecessary. Following this departure, National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic is set to serve as the acting president for a maximum duration of three months. During this interim period, she is mandated to organize and announce a new presidential election. Meanwhile, Vucic has expressed his intention to participate in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections, which are currently slated to take place on October 25.
