The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has officially summoned members of the "Machong Chismisan" podcast to address potential violations of the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons and the Cybercrime Prevention Act. This legal action follows a controversial episode where hosts made disparaging comments about Joshua Aquino, the son of Kris Aquino. Although the podcast hosts removed the content and issued a public apology, NBI Director Melvin Matibag stated that such gestures do not absolve them of potential criminal liability. The Pod Network has since ended its professional relationship with the podcast hosts. While Kris Aquino chose not to engage in a public dispute, the NBI is currently coordinating with advocacy groups for individuals with special needs to advance the investigation. The case is expected to proceed through the formal judicial process to determine accountability.
