A fresh constitutional dispute has emerged in Negeri Sembilan following accusations that Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim signed a document intended to remove the state ruler, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. This claim was brought forward by the Undang Yang Empat, the four traditional chieftains who hold customary power regarding the selection and potential removal of the monarch. The allegation surfaced shortly after the Menteri Besar had formally pledged his allegiance to the ruler. When questioned about the matter, Ismail Lasim refrained from issuing a direct denial, instead noting the right of the chieftains to express their views. He subsequently reiterated the state government's commitment and loyalty to the current Yang di-Pertuan Besar, leaving the situation in a state of unresolved tension.
