Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has announced that the Nepali government intends to transfer the operations of struggling or closed state-owned enterprises to private entities. Speaking at the 28th general meeting of the Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal, Wagle dismissed claims that the state plans to resume direct industrial management. Instead, the government will focus on settling existing liabilities and managing assets before finalizing the handover process. Detailed due diligence assessments have already been concluded for seven public enterprises, including the Gorkharkali Rubber Industry, Hetauda Cement, and Udayapur Cement. These assessments serve as the foundation for determining how government-owned land and other assets will be transitioned to private control following the completion of necessary administrative procedures.
