The Federal Parliament Secretariat of Nepal has confirmed that an impeachment request against Supreme Court Justice Kumar Regmi and CIAA Chief Commissioner Prem Kumar Rai remains unregistered. Spokesperson Ekram Giri explained that the submission, filed by a private citizen, failed to meet mandatory legal requirements. Under Nepalese parliamentary rules, an impeachment motion requires either the signatures of 25 percent of House members or a formal recommendation from at least three Members of Parliament. Since neither condition was met, the Secretariat categorized the submission as a general complaint rather than a formal motion. Furthermore, the Impeachment Recommendation Committee, which handles such investigations, has not been established. Consequently, the Secretariat stated that the application lacks constitutional standing and cannot proceed through the legislative process for the removal of these high-level officials.
