A Chinese national studying in South Korea has been handed an 18-month prison sentence. The 30-year-old international student was found guilty by the Seoul Northern District Court for generating more than 1,100 sexually explicit deepfake images. These manipulated visuals utilized photographs of seven individuals, among them his colleagues from a university research laboratory. The court's decision cited violations of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, specifically for the habitual creation of such fabricated sexual content. In addition to the incarceration, the convicted individual must also complete a 40-hour program for sex offenders.
