The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a significant surge during the initial hour of trading on Wednesday, following the introduction of a new government reform plan for the capital market. The index increased by 35 points, or 1.39 percent, reaching a level of 2,620. Trading activity was robust, with 3.44 billion rupees recorded in the first sixty minutes, indicating a strong market response. Broad-based growth was observed across all sub-indices, including banking, hydropower, and tourism, with each sector rising by over one percent. Market data showed that shares for 255 companies appreciated in value, while only 15 companies saw a decline. Notable gains were reported by firms such as Joshi Hydropower, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta, and Sindhu Bikas Bank, which saw their share prices rise between four and six percent during the session.
