The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has issued a fine of Rs 50,000 to each of 14 internet service providers for breaching licensing terms and established service standards. Following an official investigation, the regulator determined that these companies failed to adhere to approved service packages, implemented unauthorized pricing, and neglected to notify clients regarding changes to their subscriptions. Furthermore, some providers bypassed mandatory regulations requiring them to submit proposed tariffs for approval at least three months before implementation. These penalties were enforced under the provisions of the Telecommunications Act, 2053. The NTA spokesperson, Min Prasad Aryal, confirmed that these actions were necessary to ensure compliance with industry guidelines and protect consumer interests within the telecommunications sector.
