More than 93 percent of homeowners at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po have finalized sales agreements to transfer their properties to the government. This initiative follows a fatal fire that occurred at the estate nearly a year ago. According to official reports, 1,850 residents have completed the necessary documentation for the buyout program, which offers participants the choice of a cash settlement or relocation to a different government-subsidized housing complex. While Thursday marked the official deadline for the second and final stage of the process, authorities noted that some owners were unable to sign due to complications involving property titles, bankruptcy, or absence from Hong Kong. The government has committed to addressing these outstanding cases individually to ensure the transition proceeds as planned.
