The Pakistani military launched artillery strikes against Afghan Taliban positions in the Upper Kurram region following unprovoked fire from across the border. Security reports indicate that the Shipola base camp was demolished, and the Topsar post was targeted during the operation. Authorities stated that several Taliban fighters were killed in the exchange, while others reportedly vacated their positions near the Ghozgarhi border area. This military response occurred after repeated incidents of firing initiated by Taliban forces. As of Saturday, intermittent skirmishes were still being reported in the vicinity. The Pakistani government has previously criticized the Afghan Taliban for failing to address the presence of militant safe havens, which officials argue contributes to the ongoing instability along the shared frontier.
