The Philippine National Security Council (NSC) has formally criticized China for persistent illegal actions within Philippine maritime zones. These activities include unauthorized fishing, unapproved scientific research, and dangerous maneuvers that jeopardize the safety of Filipino personnel and local fishermen. The NSC emphasized that such conduct violates Philippine sovereignty and international law, specifically the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Furthermore, the Philippine Coast Guard rejected allegations of anti-China sentiment, asserting that tensions arise from China's continued harassment of Filipino vessels and personnel. This statement follows recent diplomatic friction regarding comments made by Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan, which were perceived by Philippine officials as threats of force. The Philippine government maintains that unilateral claims by China cannot supersede established international legal rulings or diminish the country's maritime rights.
