A high-ranking official from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has declared that the ongoing peace negotiations with the Turkish government are currently at a standstill. Bese Hozat, co-chair of the Kurdistan Communities Union, stated that the initiative, which began in October 2024 to resolve the long-standing conflict, is effectively frozen. While the PKK declared its dissolution in May 2025 as part of the effort to transition toward peaceful political engagement, Hozat argues that the government has failed to implement the necessary legal and political reforms to finalize the process. Despite the group's commitment to ending its armed campaign, disagreements persist regarding the specific measures required to move forward. Hozat attributed this lack of progress to the government's failure to take decisive action, leaving the future of the reconciliation efforts uncertain.
