Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially responded to a letter from National Assembly opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai regarding the selection of a successor for the Chief Election Commissioner position. According to reports, the Prime Minister has extended an invitation to the opposition leader to engage in formal discussions concerning this appointment. While the Prime Minister has initiated this dialogue, Achakzai has not yet provided a formal reply to the invitation. This development occurs shortly before a planned protest march organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf scheduled for late September. The communication follows a previous request made by the opposition leader to the government in August regarding the electoral body's leadership transition.
