Following a special intensive revision process, Punjab's electoral authorities have removed approximately 1.36 million names from the state's final voter list. This adjustment resulted in a reduction of the total electorate from 21.4 million to 20.1 million, representing a decline of roughly 6.3%. Despite these deletions, the current final list shows a net growth of 3.6% compared to the draft roll released in mid-August. Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra confirmed that the verification exercise involved issuing notices to over 3.5 million electors, with more than 86,000 individuals ultimately identified as ineligible. Punjab is currently participating in the third phase of a nationwide electoral roll revision program spanning 19 states and Union Territories.
