Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian is calling for a comprehensive review of pet cremation and aftercare facilities across the Philippines. This initiative follows the discovery of 29 deceased animals discarded improperly in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Gatchalian condemned the incident as fraudulent, noting that pet owners were deceived after paying for professional cremation services. Investigations have connected the incident to Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium based in Bacoor City, Cavite. Local authorities, led by Mayor Strike Revilla, have ordered the facility to cease operations. The closure was mandated after the business owner failed to provide necessary documentation or surveillance evidence to verify that the promised cremations were performed. Gatchalian emphasized that those responsible for this breach of trust must face legal consequences for their actions.
