During the ongoing impeachment proceedings, the senator highlighted that this financial activity occurred shortly after drug-related allegations were leveled against Carpio on July 30 and followed the resignation of Vice President Sara Duterte from her cabinet position on July 19. Financial forensic expert Alexander Cabrera testified that the transaction was completed in just over an hour and verified that the accounts in question were linked to Carpio. Pangilinan expressed interest in the specific circumstances surrounding the date of the withdrawal, noting the proximity of these events to the legal challenges and political shifts involving the Duterte family.
