Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Energy Market Authority, and the U.S. Department of Energy have unveiled preliminary results from the second stage of their collaborative research into regional energy integration. Presented at the 19th Singapore International Energy Week, the findings build upon an initiative started in April 2023 to evaluate grid infrastructure and the potential socioeconomic advantages of interconnected power systems across Southeast Asia. Experts from the Rockies and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories shared these initial insights, with the comprehensive final report scheduled for release in early 2027. This partnership aims to strengthen regional energy cooperation through enhanced subsea interconnections and improved grid stability, marking a significant step in the ongoing effort to modernize the power landscape in the region.
