The Energy Market Authority of Singapore has identified significant high-temperature geothermal resources located deep beneath the nation's surface. These underground reserves could potentially provide electricity for the country for approximately six decades. Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry Tan See Leng expressed optimism regarding these preliminary findings during the Singapore International Energy Week 2026. While the discovery is viewed as a promising development for the city-state's energy diversification strategy, authorities emphasized that further research is required to evaluate the technical feasibility and implementation methods for extracting this heat. The government continues to explore various sustainable power alternatives, including geothermal and nuclear energy, to ensure future grid reliability.
