The South Korean government has officially confirmed that the Financial Services Commission (FSC) will move its headquarters from Seoul to Sejong during the latter half of 2027. This decision marks a continuation of the state's broader decentralization initiative, which aims to distribute government functions outside the capital region. Although the FSC was omitted from an earlier relocation plan released last month, it was included in the latest announcement made on Tuesday. The move has prompted concerns within the financial sector regarding the potential for diminished regulatory efficiency and the possibility of staff departures as employees face the prospect of relocating away from Seoul.
