Jeon Gyeong-cheol, a South Korean author widely recognized for his dedicated efforts to secure long-term residential support for his autistic son, has died at the age of 64. Following a terminal diagnosis of late-stage liver cancer in April last year, Jeon spent his final months traveling across the country to visit nearly 1,000 care facilities. His goal was to ensure a safe, permanent living environment for his 27-year-old son, who requires constant care due to severe developmental disabilities. Jeon had served as his son's primary caregiver for over two decades. His poignant journey and struggle to find adequate support were shared through his personal essays on the platform Brunch and highlighted by various national television programs, drawing significant public attention to the challenges faced by families of individuals with developmental disabilities in South Korea.
