For the fifth year in a row, Sri Lanka has been placed in Tier 2 of the United States Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons report. The National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force stated that this designation acknowledges the nation's ongoing work to address human trafficking through enhanced law enforcement, victim support, and inter-agency cooperation. A significant step taken recently was the introduction of the National Strategic Action Plan for 2026-2030, which outlines the government's strategy to tackle these issues over the coming half-decade. Furthermore, the country has broadened the reach of its District Anti-Trafficking Forums to better facilitate the detection of victims and streamline communication between local officials and police forces. These combined efforts demonstrate a sustained commitment to improving national responses to trafficking challenges.
