A delegation of eight Taiwanese high school students achieved notable success at the third International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence held in Astana, Kazakhstan, this past August. Organized by the National Central University with support from the Ministry of Education, the team earned three silver and four bronze medals. The competition challenged 466 participants from 108 different nations to utilize machine learning and AI tools to address practical problems. The silver medalists included Hung Chun-jui, Wen En-han, and Wang Hung-min, while Yen Kang-yu, Huang Pin-hsun, Hsieh Meng-shan, and Chiu Yen-sung received bronze honors. As the second-largest global science Olympiad, the event highlights the growing importance of AI education. National Central University stated its intention to maintain its efforts in identifying and preparing young talent for future international technology contests.
