Thailand’s Public Health Minister has clarified that the recent television appearance by K-pop star Lisa, in which she consumed a Thai alcoholic beverage, does not constitute a breach of national advertising laws. During a segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer introduced the host to a mixed drink and shared a traditional toast. The minister noted that because the broadcast occurred outside of Thailand and the action appeared to be a personal choice rather than a promotional effort, it falls outside the scope of local regulations. The official emphasized that while Thai law strictly forbids the advertisement of alcohol, it does not criminalize the act of drinking. Consequently, the government has determined that no legal action is necessary regarding the footage, despite discussions surrounding the clip on domestic social media platforms.
