A recent study conducted by KnowBe4 reveals that over one-third of office employees in Singapore lack confidence in their ability to differentiate between authentic messages from their chief executive officers and those created using artificial intelligence. The report, titled “Would You Know Your CEO’s Real Voice? Singapore’s Growing Deepfake Vulnerability,” utilized data from a survey of 500 local workers. Released during the Singapore International Cyber Week and GovWare events, the findings highlight how cybercriminals are increasingly leveraging voice cloning and deepfake technology to deceive staff. Dr. Kawin Boonyapredee, an advisor at KnowBe4, noted that corporate hierarchical structures are being exploited by these AI-driven scams, as employees are often conditioned to trust directives from senior leadership without questioning their origin.
