A coffee shop owner in Toa Payoh discovered that his employee, a chef identified as Chen, had stolen approximately S$4,300 from his business. The owner, known as Tony, became suspicious when the chef did not report for his shift on August 27. Upon visiting the employee's residence, Tony identified money bags belonging to his stall. Chen admitted to the theft, explaining that he had gained unauthorized access to the premises using a stolen key and subsequently erased security camera recordings. Although the chef initially knelt and pleaded for forgiveness, promising to provide a written apology, he fled the following day. The incident, which occurred at a Kim Keat Avenue outlet, is currently under investigation following the employee's disappearance.
