Violent demonstrations led by Gen Z activists in Kathmandu escalated significantly between September 8 and September 9, resulting in widespread destruction of public property and government facilities. During this period of intense civil disorder, a hostile group targeted the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground located in Kirtipur. The facility, which is currently undergoing extensive renovations including the installation of modern seating and floodlight systems, faced a severe threat from the rioters. While the protest movement caused significant damage to infrastructure and political residences across the capital, the cricket stadium was ultimately spared from the destruction. The site remains a critical hub for the development of national cricket talent, and its preservation is considered vital for the future of the sport in Nepal.
