A Turkish judicial authority has ordered the imprisonment of four individuals as part of an ongoing probe into the state-led seizure of Halk TV, a prominent opposition media outlet. The legal action follows allegations of money laundering, bid rigging, and bribery directed at the station's owner, Cafer Mahiroğlu. In addition to the four detainees, four other suspects were placed under house arrest, while the remaining four were released subject to judicial monitoring. Following the transition to state-appointed management, the network's editor-in-chief, Suat Toktaş, and journalist Kürşad Oğuz have resigned from their positions. Toktaş stated that he could not continue his professional duties under the oversight of a government-appointed trustee. These developments mark a significant shift in the operational status and leadership of the broadcaster.
