Tropical Storm Champi is currently moving toward the Chinese coast after causing significant disruption across Taiwan and the southern islands of Japan. The system, previously classified as a typhoon, has seen its wind speeds decrease to 102 kilometers per hour. The severe weather resulted in widespread power outages, the cancellation of numerous flights, and localized flooding. In Taiwan, authorities conducted evacuations for over 5,000 residents as the storm downed trees and damaged infrastructure. Official reports indicate that the weather event has caused one fatality and left more than 600 individuals injured since warnings were initially issued on Thursday. Recovery efforts are underway in affected regions as the storm continues its trajectory.
