The Turkish Interior Ministry recently announced that the citizenship status of 6,134 individuals has been revoked or annulled. Officials cited security risks, threats to public order, and fraudulent activities within the nation's citizenship-by-investment scheme as the primary reasons for these actions. While the ministry did not disclose the specific timeframe for these revocations, it noted that 1,150 investment eligibility certificates were invalidated following investigative findings. Turkey's investment program currently requires foreign nationals to purchase real estate valued at a minimum of $400,000, with a three-year holding period, to qualify for naturalization. This financial threshold was previously adjusted from $250,000 in 2022, following an earlier reduction from $1 million in 2018 intended to stimulate foreign capital inflows.
