The Korea Exchange reported substantial price fluctuations during the inaugural week of its new after-hours trading session, which runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Between September 14 and the following Friday, the market recorded an average daily turnover of 1.1 trillion won, representing approximately 4.6 percent of the total daily trading volume. Data from the exchange indicates that the market environment was characterized by low liquidity and a heavy reliance on individual retail investors. Consequently, the system triggered over 5,300 volatility interruptions during this five-day period as prices fluctuated rapidly. The exchange continues to monitor these patterns as participants adjust to the expanded operational schedule.
