Following the revocation of visa-free entry for Uzbek nationals to Thailand on September 15, travelers are now required to visit the Thai embassy in Moscow to settle visa fees. Although applications can be initiated via Thailand's e-Visa portal, the final payment step necessitates a personal appearance in Russia. The Uzbek Foreign Ministry is currently engaged in diplomatic discussions with Thai authorities to simplify this administrative burden for its citizens. This policy shift follows Thailand's decision to restrict visa-free access for 93 nations, citing concerns over illegal employment and criminal activities by some foreign visitors. Despite the new hurdles, Thailand remains a top-ten travel destination for Uzbeks, with tourism numbers showing consistent growth over the past few years. Currently, Uzbekistan is excluded from both the updated visa-free list and the visa-on-arrival program, leaving travelers with limited options for entry.
