The government of Uzbekistan has unveiled a proposal to implement a state registration system for healthcare and pharmaceutical personnel. Presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the initiative aims to transition from a voluntary scheme between 2027 and 2030 to a compulsory requirement by 2030. Under this new framework, practitioners must undergo independent knowledge assessments to obtain authorization for clinical work. An electronic registry, connected to 16 national databases, will track the qualifications and professional history of approximately 600,000 specialists. The evaluation process will occur in three stages throughout a student's education and residency. To encourage early adoption, the government is offering financial bonuses to those who register voluntarily before the mandate takes effect. A specialized center will be established to oversee these assessments and manage the registry, ensuring that only qualified individuals are permitted to practice in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
