While the opposition party aligns with the Prime Minister's choice to limit ministerial raises to a maximum of 9 percent, they maintain a different stance on the underlying calculation method. Instead of the current system, which links ministerial pay to the earnings of Singapore's top 1,000 income earners, the Workers’ Party advocates for a model based on senior public servant salaries. Singh reiterated the party's 2012 proposal, suggesting that a formula involving a fixed multiple of an MP's pay combined with a smaller variable element would be more appropriate for determining political compensation.
