Astana authorities are currently reviewing a set of new regulations aimed at improving urban maintenance and traffic flow. The proposed rules include a ban on mechanized street cleaning and the watering of roadside vegetation during peak rush hours. Furthermore, the draft policy introduces stricter requirements for contractors, who will be held financially responsible for any damage caused to public infrastructure, including paving stones, lighting, and street furniture. Additional measures feature restrictions on heavy machinery exceeding 3.5 tons in pedestrian zones and bus stops, alongside new protocols for winter maintenance. These include mandatory manual snow clearing for sports and play areas, while prohibiting the removal of snow from lawns or the mechanical chipping of ice from paved surfaces. These regulations are intended to enhance the quality of urban upkeep and minimize disruptions for commuters in the capital.
