Residents in various districts of Astana reported sudden electrical service interruptions on October 23. The regional utility provider, Astana-REK, confirmed that an emergency shutdown affected the 110-kilovolt Dostyk-Airport transmission line at approximately 2:59 PM. This technical fault caused temporary power losses for customers linked to the Airport, Zarechnaya, and Ishim substations. Affected areas included locations near Mangilik El Avenue and several surrounding streets. The utility company managed to restore full power to the grid by 3:16 PM, meaning the disruption lasted for 17 minutes. Maintenance crews are currently investigating the specific cause of the line failure to prevent future occurrences. The company had previously issued warnings regarding potential temporary service interruptions in the capital.
