Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently emphasized that long-term stability in West Asia requires regional cooperation, excluding any foreign military presence. During a ceremony honoring the late diplomat Kamal Kharrazi, Araghchi stated that recent conflicts have proven that reliance on external forces, particularly US military bases, has failed to provide security and instead exacerbated regional tensions. He argued that these bases have become sources of instability and were primarily utilized to protect Israeli interests. Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's commitment to a neighborhood policy centered on peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility. He called for regional nations to collaborate on a new security architecture, asserting that local countries must manage their own defense affairs. Iran remains open to dialogue with Persian Gulf neighbors to establish a framework that prioritizes regional autonomy and rejects foreign intervention as the only viable path toward lasting peace.
