Health authorities in Changsha, Hunan province, confirmed the closure of a laboratory and the detention of six individuals following reports of unauthorized assisted reproductive technology use. Separately, the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission in Hubei province also announced the shutdown of another illicit facility. These incidents underscore the ongoing challenge faced by Chinese authorities in eradicating underground surrogacy practices, which continue to operate despite repeated government crackdowns aimed at prohibiting such services across the nation.
